What are Oracle’s Business Intelligence Applications?

Oracle There has been a tremendous amount of buzz both from the Oracle community and those around it in regards to BI Applications.  Just what are they and how will they help your organization?  Oracle explains it this way:

Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Applications are complete, prebuilt BI solutions that deliver intuitive, role-based intelligence for everyone in an organization—from front line employees to senior management—that enable better decisions, actions, and business processes. Based on best practices, these solutions enable organizations to gain more insight and greater value from a range of data sources and applications including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, Siebel, JD Edwards, and third party systems such as SAP.

Oracle BI Applications are built on the Oracle BI Suite Enterprise Edition, a comprehensive, innovative, and leading BI platform. This enables organizations to realize the value of a packaged BI Application, such as rapid deployment, lower TCO, and built-in best practices, while also being able to easily extend those solutions to meet their specific needs, or build completely custom BI applications—all on one common BI foundation.

There is also a very nice explanation of them over at Siebel Essentials (the inspiration for this blog) that you should review as well.

The applications are broken down into modules of Analytics.  Oracle currently has 13 mods available with more to come in the near future.  They range from Financials to HR and Sales to Projects.  It’s worth a look if you haven’t already.

Also, if you are an OBIEE customer, add Siebel Essentials to the list of blogs that you read on a regular basis.

While I’m thinking about it, my friends over at Optimum Solutions are doing a world tour around the BI Applications.  There would be more info here.
